lithium metal foil is an essential part of lithium battery production. It offers a wide range of applications in electrical vehicle batteries and other lithium-ion based battery systems.

1. lithium metal foil is used as the anode material in lithium ion batteries due to its high energy density and low weight.

2. lithium metal foil is available in thicknesses from 0.1 micron to 0.02 micron.

3. Thinner lithium foils are important for solid-state battery performance.

4. A thin anode foil can reduce the overall battery thickness and improve the energy density, which is important for achieving lower costs in electric vehicles.

5. Thinner anodes can increase the life of batteries, and they are safe to handle.

6. A thin anode can be formed by rolling or extrusion, enabling a greater surface area.

7. Anode foils can be produced in different shapes and sizes, ranging from very narrow to very long.

8. Electrochemical performance can be improved by coating the anode with a lithiophilic promotion layer.

10. The lithiophilic interlayer prevents delamination during lithium metal coating, so that the anode can be coated to a desired thickness without significant interface resistance.

11. The surface of the anode foils is smooth under optimized coating conditions, but a grainy morphology may be observed in a few areas.

12. No short circuits were observed during cycling for both electrodes in symmetric Li-vs.-Li test cells (Fig. 3b).

Despite the difference in the surface morphology, the electrochemical behavior of the molten-deposited lithium metal anodes was similar to that of commercial lithium foils.
