alumina balls are used as grinding media in ball mills. They are non-maqnetic electrical insulators and are very resistant to heat (up to 1000 °C), acid, alkali, corrosion, abrasion and rust. They are also lighter and have a higher temperature tolerance than steel balls and require less lubrication. These advantages make alumina balls the preferred choice for high temperature applications.
The alumina ceramic balls are made of top-grade materials with the latest molding technology and then burnt in high-temperature tunnel kilns to produce alumina with a very high density and hardness. They are divided into high alumina ball and medium alumina ball according to their contents of alumina. The high alumina balls have higher bulk density and more alumina content than the medium alumina ones. The alumina grinding balls are mainly used in ceramic, refractory, cement, glasswork and pigment industries to grind the raw materials into an even slurry.
Compared to natural flint and pebbles, the alumina ball has better wear resistance, no breakage and more durability. The alumina ceramic grinding ball can be used as replacement for the traditional flint and pebbles in dry or wet milling processes.
When selecting catalyst bed support media for high purity monomers and other reactive chemicals, choose T-99 PROX-SVERS alumina balls. These are specially formulated to be tolerant of extreme temperatures, preventing silica leaching from the steam reforming process in gas production and providing excellent support for metal industry applications. They are also a great choice for the purification of ethylene, propylene and styrene.
